Emmanuel Estling is the son of Seraphim Center's
founders, Rev. Dr. Robert Estling and Rev. Dr. Janet
Claire Moore. Eric was born in Gainesville, Florida on December
23, 1989 during the first local snowfall in his mother's
memory, and given names to commemorate both his dad's
Norwegian heritage, and the proximity of his birth to
Christmas. The meaning of his names denoted both "Power"
and "The God within" - a good combination which has
turned out to be predictive of Eric's own qualities: A
fine, and finely-trained mind, a compassionate and
thoughtful nature, and strength of character.
Growing up, Eric attended local Gainesville public
schools where he participated in an award-winning high
school band, was a singer in the Gainesville Youth
Chorus, and was the lead singer in a rock band, Same
Difference. Eric composed his own music and created a CD
of his composition entitled "Sunflower" in his teen
years. He also traveled internationally, to Ecuador, and
to Italy and Austria, where he sang for Pope John Paul
II, and also with the Vienna Boys' Choir. In May, 2014,
Eric graduated cum laude with a degree in philosophy
from Humboldt State University in California. He plans
to attend graduate school at the University of Oregon
while continuing his work with students in special
Eric continues to develop his talent in music,
performing at times in various venues, and teaching
young students guitar and ukulele. He also maintains an
abiding interest in philosophy, cultures, and religions.
Eric was the youngest Alliance of Divine Love minister
to complete ministerial training at age 10. He repeated
the training in his teen years to become a
fully-vested ADL minister.
